Calm in Chaos: Communal Healing Retreats for Black Women

Enjoy a restorative and healing retreat for Black woman who are seeking Calm in the Chaos.   Our retreat will allow us to restore our connection with our SOUL, which consists of exploring Senegal’s vibrant and dynamic culture, (re)connecting to nature, celebrating our collective capacity for resilience and resistance through visits to the Museum of Black Civilizations, Goree Island and the African Renaissance Monument, reflective journaling, practicing healing rituals  as well as stillness-based yoga and other body-centered practices (beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend) with a particular emphasis on restorative yoga for resilience.

We are holding space for this retreat in Senegal, West Africa to inform our individual and collective capacity to heal the dis-ease and trauma in our DIASPORIC SOUL(s).

$1500 per person, which includes accommodations, on-site meals, excursions,  journal and a DIASPORIC SOUL tee shirt. Airfare is not included.

You can pay in full or make $500 Deposit + four installment payments of $250 each.

2023 Retreat Dates – TBA

We will be lodging at the Tangor Guest House, our comfortable, safe and love-filled home. Accommodations consist of double rooms with one single-bed and one full bed, armoire, meditation cushion and bedside table.  Guests use our spacious dormitory-style bathroom.   Our yoga classes and community convenings are held on our rooftop, terrace and salon.  And, of course, we have wi-fi, although we only want you to use to call home not to work.

All on-site meals are included in your retreat package; off-site meals are not. Many of our meals will be eaten communally as the practice is customary in African cultures including Senegal.  The majority of our meals will include a number of traditional Senegalese dishes.  Please let us know if you need us to provide vegetarian variations when possible; we will do our best to accommodate you.

We recommend traveling via JFK (New York) via Delta Airlines or Air Senegal, which offer a direct flight to Senegal’s airport (DSS), which is a few short minutes from the Tangor Guest House.  Of course, you may consider other airlines, including Air France, Tap Portugal, Air Maroc, who fly into Dakar with a range of layover locations, including CDG or Casablanca, respectively. However, these routes have longer layovers.

Of course, we are certainly happy to make arrangements to accommodate you for an additional night should you chose to arrive on a day early or depart a day later.

Of course, we will meet you at the airport when you arrive and provide you with transportation back to the airport at the time of your departure.
